Posted by Paul Wilson on Apr 6, 2016 2:00:00 PM

Your truck is generally one of the largest investments you will make, so keeping it on the road is priority number 1!

The LML Duramax is one of the best trucks GM has ever produced. With 397 Horse Power and 796 ft/lbs of torque from the factory, the truck has the power plant necessary to do just about any job you can throw at it. However, despite the massive improvements the LML has brought to the table, there are some all too common pitfalls that can make this beast a burden.

Preventative maintenance and preparation go a long way . .  .

This list is designed for an everyday driver who has the basic tools and mechanical skills to work on the truck at home. You will find that sticking to the basics has become very important with these newer model trucks.

Basic Maintenance is Key

  1. Oil changes must happen every 5,000 - 6,000 miles

    1. The oil minder alerts you to the Maximum distance tolerable between oil changes and may vary depending on the condition is it monitors.

    2. Severe duty conditions may dramatically reduce your oil life.

Cp4 - High Pressure Pump

  1. Although this high pressure pump is capable of up to 550 RWHP there are many reports of them failing at stock horse power levels.

  2. They have a very low tolerance for fuel contaminant and low quality fuel.

    1. Get your fuel from the same pump whenever possible.

    2. Consider an additive that can increase the lubricity of your fuel.

    3. Do not run your truck under a quarter tank of fuel.

  3. Lift pumps help take stress off of the Cp4 and provide extra filtration for the fuel.

LML SPADE by DuramaxTuner.com
  1. Leave the emissions equipment intact while adding up to 130 RWHP with this hand held programmer.

  2. The tunes are custom built by Nick Preignitz, the owner and founder of DuramaxTuner.com

  3. No additional soot accumulation or increased regen frequency, keep the truck running at peak performance safely and reliably.
